| MODEL A DAYS ARE WELL ATTENDED
Our club members responded to the call for sharing their beloved old cars with the public in September. There was an excellent turn out of Model A and T fords at the Sportsman’s Hill event in Lincoln County. Jeff Rhodes created several good memories by generously providing open air rides in his 1922 Ford touring car. Charlie Cox liked the experience so well he bought one of his own a few days later.
Representatives from three Marc regions participated in the Shakertown Model A day. The western Kentucky club and the Louisville club joined us for a full day of exploring shaker Village and the surrounding area. Members of all three clubs expressed interest in getting together for more combined activities in the future. Does a Model A rodeo sound interesting? Most of us have experienced a little bucking and jumping with our old cars so we may be ready. The WKY club recommends it highly and is willing to set one up for us.
One thing for sure, it’s more fun to drive these old cars than shine and work on them. Take advantage of the opportunities to share the enjoyment with others that keeps the hobby healthy and growing.
Casey County Amish Country – November 10th
Hopefully there will still be some fall color left for our November tour.
Carl Goodwin forwarded the following information:
Ramona and I took a trip recently to Liberty and the Amish settlement to determine a scenic route for the November trip. I promise that I will not lead the group to any dead-end road at a river or in someone’s front yard. For those who want to leave Turf land Mall, please be prepared to leave by 9:00 am sharp, to have ample time for lunch and visiting the Amish stores. We will travel to Harrodsburg to Mr. Quick Deli between stoplights on US68 to be joined by some members or restroom/gas stop. Some of you who live somewhat close to Liberty may want to meet at Bread-of-Life Restaurant on US 127, about 7 miles south of Liberty. Lunch is scheduled to begin around 12:15 to 12:30. A nice buffet is available or you can order from a menu. The Amish area is about two miles beyond the restaurant and there are about ten points of interest. We feel it appropriate for the group to split up somewhat to visit sites of particular interest to each one. A predetermined time can be set to gather at McDonalds in Liberty for the trip back toward Lexington. The most direct route would be through Danville, where there is a you-know-what, ice cream place. Let’s have a big turnout for a big day.
Tech Tip
Don’t be fooled by dark green coolant in your Model A, the freeze protection can evaporate over time leaving only the color behind. Check your anti-freeze with a gauge
