TOUR TO HOOTEN OLD TOWN
Ralph Marcum always puts on a good show at Hooten Old Town in Jackson County and our July visit was no exception. A cowboy band strummed bluegrass gospel as a local Harley group provided rumbling bass notes idling toward the saloon. Sitting in the shade of the front porch we enjoyed a cool breeze and a hot bowl of beans and corn bread. Ruby and Charles Cox did a great job of arranging this tour going far beyond what is usually expected. The club had already advertised the lunch menu when Ruby found out that food wasn't provided on site. In true Model A fashion she saved the day by cooking enough food, including dessert, to satisfy the whole town. Ruby is our new hero

Tech Tips: Era License Plates

Many of our members are now using antique license plates issued in the same year their Model A was manufactured. This is a legal option in Kentucky. Although unlikely, if you are questioned about your antique plate it may be helpful to have the KRS for reference. Print, cut out and attach it to your registration.

KRS 186.043 Special License Plate for Historic Motor Vehicles

5. Historic motor vehicles may display an authentic Kentucky License plate, twenty five (25) years older, or a reproduction of such a plate, if the historic motor vehicle plate and registration receipt are kept in the vehicle at all times.

Report from the President
Our trip to Hooten Old Town in Jackson County was a great success. Thanks to Charles and Ruby Cox for making the arrangements for the tour and providing a delicious home cooked meal. We won’t forget their generosity.
Our Keeneland event is August 25th. This will be a very special day allowing us to display our old cars. You’ll enjoy seeing the variety or restored and original cars in our area.  We plan to get there early for a good parking area, meet at Turfland Mall at 8:00. Admission will be paid by the club for members who display their Model A and arrive with the group. Although food vendors will be available feel free to bring a picnic lunch. A lawn chair and umbrella would also be a good idea. Our A Models are great old cars, let’s have a big turn out for this event and let people know what an outstanding club we have.
