Model
A moment
2006 was a year to remember. We hosted our first national membership meet and
traveled thousands of miles together as a club. We made a lot of new friends
in the hobby and sadly said good-bye to some dear ones who passed on to a better
place. Through it all we grew closer together and created many memorable moments.
As we begin a new year we can look forward to the many tours our club members
recommended. We weren’t able to follow through on every recommendation
although we tried. Thanks to all who gave us ideas and especially those who volunteered
to plan and lead a tour.
This is the year to get that Model A on the road and enjoy it. If you need some
assistance in getting it ready let me know, there’s lots of good help available.
You’re unlikely to run across a problem that one of our members hasn’t
successfully encountered. We have mechanics, upholsters, painters, new and used
parts suppliers and lots of encouragers to help you turn that garage decoration
into a driver. You can waste a lot of time and money trying to figure out how
these old cars were first put together. Take advantage of the wealth of information
available.
Our editors have asked me to encourage the members to share a Model A memory
or technical information through the newsletter. Its tough getting a newsletter
out each month without support from the readers. If writing isn’t your
thing give them the idea and they can put it into a story. Also if you have a
Model A gathering dust instead of interest income, maybe Its ready for a new
home. The newsletter will inform those with the most connections to a potential
buyer and will help prevent your restored Model A from becoming a street rod.
2007 has the potential to be one of our clubs best years. Let’s all work
together to make sure it is! I hope to see you at several of our events this
year. Give me a call if I can be of assistance.
— John Yates, 2007 club president
Report from the Treasurer
Remember it is time to mail a check for the 2007
club dues if you haven’t
paid them yet. They are still a bargain at only $10 for an individual or
$15 for the family. Membership in the national
club is required to be a member
of a local club, this enables us to protect our members with liability
insurance covering club activities. My address
is Gene Swisher,1801 Catnip Hill Pike
Nicholasville, KY 40356
2006 beginning bank balance was $1,514.36, the ending balance was $6,139.84
plus a $10,000 CD.
Report from the Secretary
January 6th directors met to review member recommendations for the 2007 tour
schedule. Volunteers were designated to organize and lead the selected activities.
Details will be published in the newsletter.
Please let me know when members are ill or have a death in the family so I
may send an appropriate message from the club.
