Christmas
Dinner is Well Attended
Once
again our club’s Christmas dinner proves to be one
of the best attended activities of the year. It’s
easy to understand why when you sample some of the best
recipes in the state prepared by the ladies of the club.
Carl and Ramona Goodwin provided a delicious country ham
and Mary Rhoads expertly cooked the large turkey supplied
by the club. With all of the side dishes and desserts
brought by the members it was difficult to choose what
to put on your plate, but most folks managed to accomplish
the task quite well. It was good to have founding CKMARC
member James Barnes with us. He asked the blessing for
our meal and a special blessing for our many friends who
were unable to attend due to poor health and other reasons.
Along with tables full of great tasting food were several
tables of unique items donated for the silent auction.
Many of the items were extra special having been hand
made by our members. For example Mrs. Toliver’s
needle work skills were evident in a beautiful calico
purse and Mike Akers revealed his artistic ability in
a fantastic painting of a Model A roadster on a rocky
beach below a lighthouse. The variety and quality of items
resulted in a flurry of bidding, which was very good for
the club treasury. As usual Gene Swisher, our competent
treasurer, ran the auction and was very busy collecting
the winning bids and membership dues.
President Jeff Rhoads conducted our year end business
meeting where it was decided to alter the bylaws by increasing
the number of directors from four to six. Following this
amendment four new directors were elected along with the
nominated slate of officers. Our club is very fortunate
to have members willing to serve in these offices. We’re
also blessed with many who may not want to be an officer,
but are more than willing to help with the grunt work
that makes the club worthwhile. Keeping any organization
active and growing takes a lot of work, but with many
sharing the load what could be a burden becomes a pleasure.
2004 should be another great Model A year.
Dear
CKMARC Members,
Thanks so much for remembering us with the beautiful plant
at the time of my mother’s death. The kindness and
friendship of the group is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Faye & Noah Logan

Who Ya Gonna Call?
Most of us at some time have experienced the run around when we needed to get or to share information, but didn’t know who to contact. We don’t want that to happen with our club.
We have a tradition of sending a card or flowers to members convalescing from a health problem or experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one. Any time you are aware of such a situation contact our secretary, Judy Akers, who will send our regards.
If you meet someone who would like to join our club put them in touch with our treasurer, Gene Swisher, who maintains our official club roster and collects membership dues.
If you would like to get a message to the entire membership contact newsletter editor Tammy Godbey who will be happy to include your information in the next Checkmark.
If the end of the month arrives but no newsletter, or the Checkmark is rendered unreadable by a postal gremlin, contact Tammy for a replacement.
Do you have a suggestion for a future club activity? Any of your club officers and directors would love to hear them. Especially this time of the year when the schedule of activities is being created.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your leadership team if you have ideas or suggestions for our club, that’s why their names and phone numbers are printed each month. They will be meeting early next year to develop our monthly activities for this year. What Model A activity would you enjoy? Let these people know about it.
Company is Coming! Preparations begin
As you know the Model A Restorer’s Club accepted our offer to host the 2006 national membership meet in Lexington. Meet Chairman Jack Kubik asked all interested members to meet to discuss some of the details that need to be worked out. The meeting was well attended. Several sent word to count them in for help even though they couldn’t attend the meeting.
Major tasks were identified and committees were created to organize the work into manageable activities. Those at the meeting volunteered to take an active role on the committees and seek out other members willing to help. There’s lots of skill and expertise in our club and a perfect job for each of us. Even though there is much to be done, if everyone contributes, this can be a very satisfying activity for our club.
Several of our members are planning a visit to the “04 membership meet in Jacksonville, Florida this April to see how the gathering is set up. If you are interest in this trip look for details in your last and next Model A News magazine.
Many Thanks to CKMARC Officers & Directors for 2003
Our club has enjoyed a very good year. Several new families have joined our group and all the activities were well attended. We’ve been able to pay the bills without raising dues or going broke. We’ve rambled all over the state of Kentucky and a lot of the USA in these old Fords and had a great time doing it. The club appreciates the work of our leaders in keeping our happy little group rolling along. Next time you see one of these folks give them a well deserved pat on the back.
