John Yates, 1947-2016

John Yates, one of the six original founding members of our club, former owner of Antique Auto Parts of Kentucky, swap meet veteran, and selfless ambassador of the hobby, died unexpectedly on July 31, 2016, at the age of 68.

Jessamine County tour is Aug. 20

It’s something of a tradition for our club to make an appearance at the High Bridge Festival and end up with a visit to the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, where our old cars always seem to bring cheer to the residents.

On Saturday morning, Aug. 20, we’ll meet at McDonald’s in Brannon Crossing just south of Lexington, departing from there at 9 a.m. Darrell and Joan Webb are in charge of this event.

More information on ‘Drive Your Model A’ Day, Sept. 9-11

Central Kentucky MARC invites you to celebrate Drive Your Model A Day, Sept. 9-11 in Lexington. The Ramada Inn, 2143 North Broadway, is the host hotel. If you haven’t already made your reservation and still need a room, call (859) 299-1261.

This will truly be an opportunity to drive your Model A. Saturday’s highlight will be a tour of over 100 miles including beautiful back roads, a buffet lunch, and planned morning and afternoon stops. There will be an optional ice cream tour on Friday evening, and plenty of time to kick tires and visit with fellow Model A enthusiasts.

Jerry and Martha Baker and Bruce and Linda Bailey are the organizers of this event.

Note: Apart from the hotel accommodations, there is no registration required for this event. If you plan to particpate without staying at the host hotel, make sure to be there in time for the departures as outlined below. For those who are trailering to the event, plenty of trailer parking is available at the Ramada.
