Important CKMARC News:
Tour to Harrodsburg Mar. 24
by Jack Kubik
Let’s hope that spring has finally “sprung” when we head out on our March tour. The meeting place is ChickFil-A on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington. The plan is to pull out at 10 a.m., so come a little earlier if you want to grab something to eat or drink before the tour. Originally, the destination was lunch at the Beaumont Inn, but since a noon meal is no longer an option there, we’ve made a switch to the Kentucky Fudge Company. This restaurant is located in a treasured piece of history, an early American drug store, where the local pharmacy and soda fountain was the town’s gathering spot. Although pharmaceuticals are no longer dispensed, it has once more become a place where family and friends can meet for a meal, old fashioned ice cream or their favorite fudge. Food orders are placed at a counter from a chalk board menu and you are given an old wooden spoon, with your order number on it, to take to your chosen seat. The server will then deliver your food to you to enjoy. Lunch is scheduled around 12:30 for anyone who may choose to meet us there. The return trip has a planned stop at a craft and antique mall named Back Porch Treasures, also located in Harrodsburg.
